Dentist
BDS (Lond) 1988, MSc (Lond) 1992, MClinDent (Lon) 2004
GDC No. 64014

I qualified from King’s College London in 1988 and then spent a year as a House Officer gaining further experience in Oral Surgery and Children’s dentistry. Following that I worked in Oral Pathology at The Royal London Hospital for several years, studying dental disease and gaining an MSc in the subject. However I decided that academia was not for me and that I would rather spend my time treating and helping patients. So I moved into practice where I have remained since, starting in London, moving to Surrey and ultimately up to Yorkshire.

I thoroughly enjoy the more advanced side of restoring people’s mouths and therefore undertook another Masters whilst working in practice, again through King’s. I gained a distinction in my Master of Clinical Dentistry in 2004, in addition to a much greater understanding of various treatments available. This, I believe, allows me to consider all options for my patients, rather than being narrowly focused.

Away from work, when I am not busy with my family, I have always enjoyed trying to keep fit. I spent several years with Wetherby Runners, however having rowed in the dim and distant past, I have recently started up again. I joined York City Rowing Club last year and thoroughly enjoy getting out on the river again; I should never have stopped although I should have remembered how much training is involved!

Specialist in Oral Surgery
BDS (Newc) 1990, FDS RCS (Edin) 1994
GDC No. 65422

I qualified from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne Dental School more years ago than I choose to remember. I spent the first 10 years post qualification, in higher training, working in Oral Surgery in a variety of hospitals and Dental Hospitals in Newcastle and Leeds. I met and married my husband in the North East, but our jobs have allowed us to remain settled in Yorkshire.

I had the fantastic opportunity to work in Toronto for a year in 1998. Here, I worked with the internationally renowned implantologist, George Zarb. On returning to the UK, I have spent a good portion of my clinical time performing implants.

Returning to Yorkshire, I worked in an NHS practice as a general Dentist, and Oral Surgeon. For the last 14 years has I have been part of the great team at Ashby Dental, in Wetherby, where I have built my own book, caring for people under my care, and providing a full service of dentistry, as well as Oral Surgery and Implant work, by referral.

When not at work, I can be found out with my horse, Mirah. We enjoy a whole range of horse activities, and are members of Harewood Combined Training Group, and I am keen to start moving up the grades with Le Trec, our local group is White Horse Trec.

Running and cycling are other favourite ways to get out & about and enjoy some fresh air, in stunning countryside.

GDC NO: 270960

I qualified from Leeds Dental School in 2017, and spent a year working in a busy NHS practice.

I then went into Hospital dentistry and worked at Leeds General Infirmary and Pinderfields Hospital for a couple of years in the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department, treating head and neck trauma in A&E and head and neck cancer. Alongside hospital work, I worked privately in Leeds treating toothaches and carrying out oral surgery.

I then moved into private dentistry full time and have never looked back! I also regularly carried out domiciliary visits for those unable to travel to dental practice in addition to charity work for the Dentaid charity. I enjoy caring for patients and getting to know all about them and seeing families grow!! I get on well with patients and have built a loyal patient base over the years.

I feel with dentistry, you never stop learning and I love learning new skills and continually developing. I am currently undergoing a 2 year post graduate diploma in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry, and a post graduate course in Implant Dentistry.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my son and husband and spend a lot of time walking. I also enjoy keeping fit at the gym and trampolining!

I grew up in Leeds and only moved away to train as a Dental Hygienist.

I qualified as a Hygienist December 2002 then returned home. I was happy to be back though I did miss the friendly ‘Geordies’. I have since settled into two dental practices.

One since 2004 and I joined Ashby Dental the Spring of 2013.

I married my husband in 2004 and we have 2 children together. As a family we love to get out and explore. We have a motor home called ‘ Clara’ and enjoy travelling both home and abroad.

This allows us to pursue the outdoor lifestyle we love.

My role as a Hygienist allows me to meet many people.

Many of my patients look forward their appointments and an opportunity to catch up, others can be a little more apprehensive.

I work hard to put everyone at ease so the experience is as positive and comfortable as possible.

I moved to Wetherby in 1983 and started working for Cooke and Bradley Dental Practice in 1984 and in 2006 we moved to Ashby Dental on Deighton Road.

Sandra Gill

Head Dental Nurse & Decontamination lead
Qual- National Certificate NEBDN 2005
GDC No. 105080

I started out on my career as a dental nurse in 1980 at that time all the training was done “on the job" this form of training served me well until compulsory registration and qualification were introduced. So I took the plunge and sat the exam passing in 2005. Chair side involving patient care has always made up most of my daily work but dentistry has changed and this opened up a new avenue for me which involved compliance /health & safety legislation.

Outside of work I enjoy walking, cycling and travelling. During these foreign trips I always have a good crime novel with me feeding my fascination with forensic pathology and all things CSI.

Finally my motto in life is Work Hard – Travel Far.
